Turing Video and JLL Team Up to Bring Advanced AI Security to the Real Estate Industry

Turing Video seems to have “put a brain on the camera, giving it the ability to think.”

That’s how Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL) describes the Turing Machine that is revolutionizing security and safeguarding against the global pandemic — and beyond.

Now, JLL has partnered with Turing Video to bring this technology to the real estate and property management industries through a collaboration called AI Smart Eye powered by Turing Machine and Turing Robotics. Using a combination of artificial intelligence algorithms, video surveillance, and inspection robots, AI Smart Eye is able to detect potentially dangerous situations before they become actual problems.

It’s also able to help keep COVID-19 out of offices, institutions, and organizations, which is obviously a top priority right now given the surge in both cases and deaths.

“The epidemic has accelerated the digital transformation of traditional industries, including real estate,” says Yiqing Wang, JLL’s Director of Property and Asset Management. “We believe that this new solution will provide property developers, owners, and property managers with an unparalleled real estate technology experience.”

Preventing Problems with Turing Technology

Before launching AI Smart Eye, a one-year test was conducted at two large facilities to see exactly how the technology would handle various situations.

The results were more than enough to move the technology forward and bring it to the marketplace.

Indeed, it was found that AI Smart Eye could effectively recognize and provide real-time feedback for at least 40 situations, including individuals carrying weapons, fires, elevator shut-downs, and many other abnormal and potentially dangerous scenarios.

First and foremost, property management is about creating a safe environment. AI Smart Eye makes that possible in an easy and cost-effective way.

Gone are the days of two or more security guards staring at dozens of monitors in an effort to notice and catch suspicious activity, whether caused by a person, a mechanical failure, or an accident.

Instead, AI Smart Eye uses artificial intelligence and robotics to monitor each and every corner of a facility, no matter how expansive space is.

This not only has the potential to reduce expenses, but it also frees up time for security personnel, allowing them to focus on whatever needs to be done rather than endlessly staring at a bank of monitors.

Turing Machine, an all-in-one intelligent video analytics system seamlessly integrates with all of Turing’s products, but it can also easily be plugged into an existing commercial-grade video surveillance system.

Already, Turing has more than 50,000 cameras and autonomous control robots at work across the globe, providing security for a total of more than 100 million square feet of facilities.

Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 with Turing Technology

While business leaders both nationwide and globally are increasingly recognizing the importance of artificial intelligence technology, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this technology nothing short of essential.

And Turing offers the No. 1 workplace solution on the market. Called the Turing Shield, the system has the ability to detect fever, ensure mask compliance, conduct contact tracing, and mitigate risk by aligning with all guidelines put forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It’s an elegant all-in-one solution that’s both easy to use and affordable. It helps keep the virus out of an organization and, should a case occur, enables quick and efficient contact tracing.

Already, the Turing Shield is being used to protect more than 1,000 businesses and institutions, including Coca-Cola, Salesforce, Costco, and Albertsons.

Preventing Pandemic-Related Litigation

While the primary goal has always been to protect people and fight the spread of COVID-19, the Turing Shield can help keep businesses and organizations safe in another way, as well.

Since March, there have been nearly a thousand lawsuits filed against employers due to alleged violations related to the coronavirus.

The reality is that it’s not enough in today’s litigious society to do everything you can to protect your space; you also have to be able to prove that you have done so.

And that’s another way the Turing Shield truly excels. Rather than chasing down emails or searching through records, the Turing Shield collects and stores all relevant records, making them available in an instant should they be needed.

Turing at Work Now— and in the Future

The reality is that COVID-19 response systems like the Turing Shield may become a part of everyday life—at least for the foreseeable future.

That’s because, even after a COVID-19 vaccine has become widely available, experts caution that this virus is not likely to truly disappear anytime soon. The more probable scenario is that, like the seasonal flu, it will transform into something we learn to manage in various ways.

And one of those ways could be monitoring temperatures.

Turing offers a wide variety of solutions that are far superior to what so many organizations are currently doing, which is having an employee stick a thermometer in the face of anyone who enters their facility.

That strategy may seem easy and inexpensive unless you factor in the employee hours spent managing the process. Not to mention that social distancing is simply not possible when manually taking someone’s temperature.

The Turing Shield, in contrast, involves little more than standing in front of the scanner—and it doesn’t require anyone to operate it.

In the long-term, it’s about protecting our businesses—and our communities—against invisible threats in the least intrusive and most efficient way possible.
